Tier One Multinational Bank delivers CCAR Stress Testing in record time under intense pressure leveraging Kinaesis DataOps experts

The problem

A multinational tier-1 bank is under increasing pressure from the regulators to implement demanding stress testing requirements which was putting an ever-increasing strain on the risk reporting model and strategic teams. They asked Kinaesis to assist them in the delivery of a key reporting requirement in their market risk IT area. Kinaesis formed a focused team of SME and data engineers to work with the client teams to help them accelerate the project to be able to meet the deadline whilst building a framework to support future business requirements.

How we helped

Kinaesis data engineers quickly established the critical elements of the solution and reworked the architecture to minimize the delivery dependencies. We worked with the client to minimize the critical path and to implement flexible components that could be changed rapidly to support the high release cadence that the deadline required. In parallel, Kinaesis helped separate 'core' data, applicable to the whole bank, from local data, specific to particular regulations.

Our team of engineers engaged with the users to set up an incremental agile delivery train that could build the collaboration required to meet the challenging requirements.

Key Victories

The momentum and the engagement from the users rapidly improved as they were provided with interim demonstration deliverables of the solution. The cadence of the project increased as the dependencies in the data pipeline were minimised allowing the teams to remove blockages in the delivery. The testing cycles of the reporting process improved accelerating the acceptance and verification of the reported numbers. Bottlenecks in the architecture were removed through clever data engineering.

The ultimate outcome of the project was the successful delivery of a solution on time with the required functionality to help the business deliver the critical regulatory reports. The ongoing success of the project delivered the improved relationship between IT and the business and the improved profile of the IT management team that trusted the data delivery methodology.
