The client in question were struggling to deliver insight and reporting capabilities to the business. Many of their projects were failing to gain user acceptance and the systems had limited engagement when they were released to production. They did not know how to turn around their projects and critically to build more rapport with the business.
Kinaesis engaged with a 10 day review assignment for one of the high profile failed projects. The assignment reviewed the technical architecture, the project process and the governance. Our focus on all aspects of the project enabled us to highlight that regardless of how the project was approach it would not have succeeded due to the data not being able to support the target outcomes.
By highlighting a data focused methodology with embedded data quality and lineage then we were able to build a vital bridge between the users and the IT team. By understanding the data and matching it to the requirements then the architectures would be much simpler and the projects much easier to implement.
By following a data driven approach they could bring forward discussions about complex data problems prior to the major expense of project implementation. The business were brought much closer to the implementation detail where they jointly owned the data challenges which helped to improve on the success of future projects.
